Before Use
Mix the following ingredients together and apply to the clay pot three times over 48 hours before first fire.
Do not use water or let any water touch the clay body at any time.
3 tablespoons Brown sugar
1/2 cup Mustard Oil
1/2 cup Yogurt
3 tablespoons Salt
First Fire
Start with a light fire (4 lbs of hardwood charcoal) and increase heat in 30 minute increments until the temperature of the center of the wall is above 650 degrees Fahrenheit. For best results, increase temperature to above 750 degrees Fahrenheit. Use an IR thermometer to check the temperature of the tandoor (sold separately).
Continued Use
Start with a light fire (6 lbs of hardwood charcoal) and increase heat in 10 minute increments until the temperature of the center of the wall is above 650 degrees Fahrenheit. For best results, increase temperature to above 750 degrees Fahrenheit. Use an IR thermometer to check the temperature of the tandoor (sold separately).
