Uzbek Tandir Ovens for Homes and Restaurants - NSF Certified

Tandir · тандир

In Uzbekistan the clay oven is the tandir - the heart of every bakery and courtyard. A GULATI tandoor is the same clay oven: a high-heat clay pot handcrafted by artisans in India inside a heavy-duty stainless steel body, ready for Uzbek restaurants, bakeries and home kitchens across the USA.

Also known as

What Uzbek kitchens bake in a tandir

Non (lepyoshka)

Round Uzbek bread, stamped in the center with a chekich and baked on the hot clay wall.

Samsa

Flaky pastries filled with lamb or beef and onion, pressed onto the tandir wall to bake.

Tandir meats

Lamb and beef roasted in the tandir's heat - on a GULATI tandoor, cook them on the included skewers.

Which GULATI Tandoor Fits Your Kitchen

Every model has a high-heat clay interior handcrafted in India and a heavy-duty stainless steel body.

Restaurants & bakeries

NSF/ANSI 4 gas tandoors from 26″ to 36″ with a 100,000 BTU burner - built to pass health inspection and hold steady heat all service. The 36″ has our largest mouth (17″) for the most bread per load.

Traditional charcoal

34″ and 36″ charcoal tandoors for the classic smoky flavor of a charcoal-fired clay oven. Check your local fire code before using solid fuel in a restaurant.

Homes & catering

Family Size, Medium and Jumbo home tandoors cook on charcoal, with propane or natural gas kits, and roll on wheels. The Pro Catering tandoor travels to events.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a GULATI tandoor the same as an Uzbek tandir?
Yes. Tandir, tandoor, tannour and tanur are regional names for the same kind of clay oven: a clay pot heated from below, with breads baked on the wall and meats cooked on skewers inside. GULATI tandoors have a high-heat clay interior handcrafted in India and a stainless steel body built for US kitchens.
Can I bake non and samsa in a GULATI tandoor?
Yes. Breads are pressed onto the hot clay wall and lifted off when golden. Every NSF GULATI tandoor comes with a gadhi pad (the cushion used to press dough onto the wall) and two bread removal sticks.
Which tandir is best for an Uzbek restaurant or bakery?
For restaurants that need health-inspector approval, choose one of our NSF/ANSI 4 gas tandoors (26″ to 36″, 100,000 BTU) - the larger the mouth, the more bread per load, and the 36″ has a 17″ mouth. For a traditional charcoal flavor, choose the 34″ or 36″ charcoal tandoor. Not sure? Call (908) 208-3582 or use the Tandoor Finder and we'll size it with you.
Can I use a tandir at home?
Yes. Our Family Size, Medium and Jumbo home tandoors cook on charcoal, with propane or natural gas kits available, and roll on wheels for the backyard. Every GULATI tandoor comes with one-on-one virtual support to help you cure the clay and bake your first breads.
Do you ship nationwide?
Yes. Tandoors ship in 1 business day from New Jersey and Los Angeles and arrive in 3-5 business days anywhere in the continental US. NSF, steel pot and charcoal tandoors ship for a flat $300 each; everything else ships free. For Alaska and Hawaii, please call (908) 208-3582.
