Afghan Tandoor Ovens for Homes and Restaurants - NSF Certified

Tandoor · تنور

In Afghanistan the neighborhood nanwayee (bakery) is built around the tandoor, with bakers slapping long naan-e Afghani onto the hot clay walls all day. GULATI tandoors bring that same clay oven to Afghan restaurants, bakeries and homes across the USA.

Thinner everyday breads baked on the same hot wall in minutes.

Kebabs and roasted meats

Lamb, beef and chicken cooked on skewers in the tandoor's high heat.

Which GULATI Tandoor Fits Your Kitchen

Every model has a high-heat clay interior handcrafted in India and a heavy-duty stainless steel body.

Restaurants & bakeries

NSF/ANSI 4 gas tandoors from 26″ to 36″ with a 100,000 BTU burner - built to pass health inspection and hold steady heat all service. The 36″ has our largest mouth (17″) for the most bread per load.

Traditional charcoal

34″ and 36″ charcoal tandoors for the classic smoky flavor of a charcoal-fired clay oven. Check your local fire code before using solid fuel in a restaurant.

Homes & catering

Family Size, Medium and Jumbo home tandoors cook on charcoal, with propane or natural gas kits, and roll on wheels. The Pro Catering tandoor travels to events.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a GULATI tandoor the same oven Afghan bakeries use?
Yes - it's the same kind of clay oven, with bread baked on the wall and meats on skewers inside. Traditional Afghan tandoors are often built into the ground from clay and brick; a GULATI tandoor puts a high-heat clay pot handcrafted in India inside a stainless steel body, so it can be installed in a US restaurant or used at home.
Can I bake naan-e Afghani in a GULATI tandoor?
Yes. Breads are pressed onto the hot clay wall and lifted off when golden. Every NSF GULATI tandoor comes with a gadhi pad (the cushion used to press dough onto the wall) and two bread removal sticks.
Which tandoor is best for an Afghan bakery or restaurant?
For restaurants that need health-inspector approval, choose one of our NSF/ANSI 4 gas tandoors (26″ to 36″, 100,000 BTU) - the larger the mouth, the more bread per load, and the 36″ has a 17″ mouth. For a traditional charcoal flavor, choose the 34″ or 36″ charcoal tandoor. Not sure? Call (908) 208-3582 or use the Tandoor Finder and we'll size it with you.
Can I use a tandoor at home?
Yes. Our Family Size, Medium and Jumbo home tandoors cook on charcoal, with propane or natural gas kits available, and roll on wheels for the backyard. Every GULATI tandoor comes with one-on-one virtual support to help you cure the clay and bake your first breads.
Do you ship nationwide?
Yes. Tandoors ship in 1 business day from New Jersey and Los Angeles and arrive in 3-5 business days anywhere in the continental US. NSF, steel pot and charcoal tandoors ship for a flat $300 each; everything else ships free. For Alaska and Hawaii, please call (908) 208-3582.
